H-High Fiber we like fresh ground flax. However, if you are experiencing constipation, using excess fiber can make constipation worse
O-Oils we like cod liver oil but you can take 1 tablespoon organic olive oil
P-Probiotic to repopulate the intestinal tract with the good bacteria. Most people have been having great success using the soil-based probiotics.
E-Digestive enzymes taken with meals can ensure the foods are broken down correctly in the body
Dietary Recommendations:
Eat Non GMO-When we purchase organic fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy items we are limiting our exposure to genetically modified foods.
Foods to include: Fresh vegetable juices, healthy fats, raw cultured dairy, steamed vegetables, homemade bone broth, some fruits (you may need to eliminate raw apples, grapes, and bananas), organic meats and farm fresh eggs. Many people have food sensitivities that contribute to digestive issues.
Foods to avoid: Conventional dairy (due to ultra processing), spicy foods, foods that cause gas, some grains, gluten, sugar and refined flour. Most customers that have been tested have a sensitivity to wheat (contains gluten) , rice and oats which do not contain gluten.
Do not consume fluids with meals: Drink fluids at least 20 minutes before or after meals to facilitate food digestion,
Supplements :
Fish Oil (I prefer Cod Liver Oil):Appears to reduce inflammation in the intestinal lining.
Probiotics: Consuming raw sauerkraut and plain yogurt or kefir and taking a probiotic supplement can help prevent traveler’s diarrhea improve sluggish digestion, and reduce excess gas.
Digestive enzymes: Used at mealtime
Herbal Remedies
Ginger: I use crystallized version, ginger also comes in capsules and can be used as a tea.
DGL: deglycyrrhizinated Licorice, increases the mucous lining of the esophagus and stomach, protecting it from gastric acid.
Slippery elm or marshmallow root: Can help coat and soothe inflamed tissues.
Peppermint oil: Can relax the smooth muscles if the digestive tract. Use enteric coated capsules.
Triphala: is an Ayurvedic mixture of three fruits that help regulate bowel function
